FAWS asking for you help

FAWS asking for you help

The Feliciana Animal Welfare Society (FAWS) garage sale fundraiser event is scheduled for March 30 and March  31 and they are asking for your stuff.

"Clothing, furniture, weird things, nice things, nice weird things. We want it and we want to sell it.  No longer need that lamp?  How about that coffee table?  Got a closet full of "skinny clothes"? Bring it on!   We can vaccinate a dog with that lamp, spay a cat with that coffee table, and pay for a dog house with your closet full of clothes.   Bring some plants and we'll pay last month's vet bill. Offer up that boom box and we'll cure a case of mange.

Student donates to animal shelter

Student donates to animal shelter

A fifth-grade student from Prairieville Primary used birthday money to buy pet food and supplies for the Ascension Parish Animal Shelter last month.

Eleven-year-old Victoria Hoff, along with her mother, Holly, and brother, Alex, brought in bags of pet food, cat litter, toys, food bowls, treats and collars to the animal Shelter at 9894 Airline Highway in Sorrento.

Victoria had seen a news report recently where a student in California had done the same thing and she decided to help the animal shelter here.

“I have a cat that I really like and so I wanted to give gifts to the animal shelter,” Victoria said. “I also have friends at school who said they would do this also.”

“Most people are takers and not givers,” said Mike LeBlanc, supervisor of the parish’s shelter. “Victoria is a giver. This act of kindness, I believe, will come back to her in her life. We thank her so much.”
